Students of the University of Texas (El Paso) made a mobility stay at the FBE to know about territorial industry and innovation

The students of the MBA (University of Texas, El Paso) during a joint work session with the students of the Master in Entrepreneurship and Innovation (URV).

They have been attending specialized seminars, visiting companies and exchanging experiences with master students in the Faculty of Business and Economics.

22 MBA students of the University of Texas - El Paso (United States) have been doing a mobility stay at the URV through the Study Abroad program, to know, firsthand, the economic reality of the Southern Catalonia region. From March 18 to 23, they have been attending specialized seminars taught by professors from the Faculty of Business and Economics, and visiting several companies. On Tuesday, they exchanged impressions with the MBA students of the Faculty of Business and Economics by doing an activity based on the concept of speed dating.

They were able to explain themselves in small groups, on one hand the business ideas on which they are working, and on the other hand they discussed the differences between countries in some aspects such as entrepreneurship and innovation, industrialization, and the incidence of cultural diversity in business management, among other issues. "This is an icredible opportunity to exchange knowledge and to undestand different points of view, which are influencing as much the innovation ideas, as our growth as a society", said Alejandro Baca, general director of a dental clinic in Ciudad Juarez, and MBA student at the University of Texas - El Paso.

The stay has also allowed them to see the functioning of projects similar to those they work in at class. For instance, the start-up of a wine cellar, which a student must design for a subject. For that, it has been very useful to visit the Clos Galena Winery, which from the Molar exports its production to several countries and serves wine to events such as the Nobel Prizes, among others.

They have also been visiting the headquarters of the Borges Group. According to Beatriz Lucero, staff from the University of Texas, the visit allowed them to see that this agrifood company is similar to those in the border region between Mexico and U.S. They were also in Port Aventura and in Eurecat facilities, where they saw how it works the creation of spin-offs of research projects.

"With the participation in the Study Abroad program, the Faculty of Business and Economics intensifies the exchanges that had already been made with the University of Texas at El Paso, basically with stays of teaching staff of the URV in the United States" says Amado Alarcón, professor at the Department of Business Management, and responsible for this international course.
